Project Overview

Create a custom mnemonic / audio logo for a large agriculture business that captures the spirit and heart of the brand to be used in videos, marketing and social media.

 
 

Client’s Goals and Challenges

What does innovation, courage, risk taking and trustworthy sound like? In a world where the goal is to help growers thrive. Expressing a brand sonically is always a challenge and is very subjective. How does one even begin?

 

Process - Early Stages

After the initial discovery meetings we were given an opening animation to work with. Deciding to have the visuals drive the inspiration of the audio logo. Here are 3 of the many versions we came up with.

Process - Mid Stream Correction

Our team and the agency then decided this was the wrong approach and instead of having the visuals drive the audio logo we needed to strip it back and create a melody from scratch that felt right and represented the brand correctly. We then created melodies with one single instrument (piano) and created a basic sonic wireframe. There were many options created. Here are 4.

Process - Fleshed Out

We then took the melodies and fleshed them out and gave them more life exploring different instruments.

Process - “This feels like us”

After exploring several instrumentation options, the client was drawn to option #2. However, it still needed a final touch to truly capture their sound. When the client heard the revised version, they said, 'This sounds like us now.' The missing piece was a subtle addition of a tractor sound to complete the logo. Below are two of the six tractor options considered.

Summary - The sound of a brand

Creating an audio logo is a collaborative and exploratory process. While sounds can be subjective, there is always an emotion that sound can create that will transcend style and preferences.
